In 2024, EfficiencyOne continued to drive energy savings and environmental benefits, while also powering economic growth and building a skilled workforce within Nova Scotia’s expanding green energy sector. Across the province, EfficiencyOne’s programs and incentives are helping make life more affordable for Nova Scotians, helping businesses save money on energy costs and reinvest into their operations, and creating local employment opportunities while supporting economic resilience.

Emmerson Packaging

Repaired leaks have resulted in $37,179 in cost savings per year for Emmerson Packaging of Amherst Nova Scotia. By joining the Demand Response Program, Emmerson achieved an additional $30,000 in annual savings. Trans-Atlantic Preforms

With the guidance of an Efficiency Nova Scotia Energy Manager, Trans-Atlantic Preforms has achieved 25% of total energy savings to date by implementing a data-driven strategy to reduce energy consumption, achieve substantial cost savings, and lower their carbon footprint.

New Dawn Enterprises

New Dawn Enterprises is transforming homes and lives through energy efficiency upgrades, making it easier for people to stay in their homes and build a better future for themselves and their families. Powered by innovative energy solutions in partnership with Efficiency Nova Scotia, more than 300 units have received energy efficient upgrades, and retrofits to 28 homes resulted in cutting energy consumption in half. Our programs and incentives help make life more affordable for Nova Scotians.

Financial Analysis and Discussion

In 2024, EfficiencyOne achieved 172.8 GWh of electricity savings and 30.7 MW of demand savings, above the targets of 156.56 GWh and 26.42 MW, respectively. In addition, 8.1 MW of available capacity attributed to demand response programs was achieved. Total investment was $65.7 million. We also achieved 298,513 GJ of energy savings and 20,068 tonnes of GHG reductions from government funded programs in 2024, which helped us get closer to achieving our multi-year energy and carbon missions savings targets on behalf of the Province of Nova Scotia and the Government of Canada. Total investment to achieve these savings was $67.1 million. We received $79.1 million from Natural Resources Canada to distribute grants under the Canada Greener Homes and Oil to Heat Pump Affordability programs.
